Crank Technologies, Inc. (“Crank,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Crank mobile application and the website located at crank.social (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility
The Service is intended for individuals 17 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a user under 17 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically
Location Information
With your permission, we may collect precise location information while you are using the App to show nearby venues, improve venue discovery and check-ins, and support location-based features. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
Usage and Activity Information
Feature usage and interactions (e.g., screens viewed, taps/clicks, timestamps)
Participation signals used to power ranking features (e.g., check-ins, comment activity, unique commenters, and recency)
Leaderboard and activity-based ranking results (including derived scores and ranking positions)
Device and Technical Information
Device type, operating system, app version, and language settings
IP address and approximate location derived from IP
Log data related to performance and security
Crash logs and diagnostics data
Push Notification Information
Push notification tokens and related delivery signals (where supported)
2.3 Information From Third Parties
If you sign in using a third-party identity provider (such as Apple), we receive information from that provider, which may include your name (if shared), email address, and a unique identifier used to authenticate you.

Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
Create and manage accounts, including authentication and access control
Enable core features such as bar discovery, check-ins, comments, and leaderboards
Personalize content and present relevant venues and activity
Calculate and display activity-based rankings and leaderboards
Detect, prevent, investigate, and address fraud, abuse, harassment, and other harmful activity
Enforce our Terms of Service and policies
Communicate with you about the Service, including service updates and security notices
Deliver push notifications if you enable them
Monitor and improve performance, reliability, and user experience

4. How We Share Your Information
Crank does not sell your personal information.
We may share information as follows:
4.1 With Other Users
The Service includes social features. Depending on how you use the Service, other users may be able to view:
Your username / display name and profile photo
Your check-ins, comments, and other content you post
Your activity associated with venues and leaderboards, as displayed within the app
You understand that content you share may be copied or captured by others (for example, through screenshots), and we cannot control what other users do with content once it is visible to them.
4.2 With Service Providers
We use third-party service providers to help us operate, support, and improve the Service. These providers process information on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it.
Service providers may include:
Firebase (Google) (authentication, database, storage, and related configured services)
Expo (app build, delivery, and related services you enable)
Apple and Google platform services (including authentication, app distribution, and device services when enabled)
Mapping services used to display maps in the app (including react-native-maps and underlying Apple Maps and/or Google Maps services depending on device/platform configuration)
Push notification services (including Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and, where applicable, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM))
Media and device feature services used to support camera and photo functionality (including expo-camera, expo-image-picker, expo-media-library, and react-native-vision-camera, as enabled)
4.3 For Legal Reasons and Business Transfers
We may share information if we believe it is necessary to:
Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
Protect the rights, property, and safety of Crank, our users, or others
Detect, prevent, or address security or technical issues
If Crank is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes, including maintaining the Service, preventing abuse, resolving disputes, and complying with legal obligations. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and how it is used.
6. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time within the App. When you delete your account:
We delete or de-identify your profile and personal information within a reasonable period, unless retention is required for legal or safety reasons.
Some content you posted (such as comments in a thread) may remain visible to preserve community context, but it will be de-identified where feasible (for example, shown as “Deleted User”).
We may retain limited information in aggregated or de-identified form for analytics and historical reporting.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where applicable.
